New Documentary “DRIVEN BY LEGACY: THE ROAD TO PEBBLE” Presented by 303® Available Now to Watch
CHICAGO (Oct 22, 2024) – A new documentary, titled Driven By Legacy: The Road to Pebble, celebrates the remarkable journey of a legendary automobile as it prepares for the prestigious 73rd Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. This film showcases the rich history of the 1934 Packard 1108 Twelve Dietrich Convertible Sedan, once owned by the explorer and philanthropist Louise Arner Boyd, and details the meticulous process LaVine Restorations, Inc. undertakes to restore it to its original form.
The Packard Twelve, renowned for its luxurious design and engineering excellence, played a significant role in the history of American automotive craftsmanship. Louise Arner Boyd, a pioneering figure in the world of exploration and a celebrated collector, treasured this vehicle as a symbol of elegance and adventure. Her story intertwines with the car’s history, reflecting a time when automobiles were not just modes of transport, but also extensions of personal identity and expression.
The documentary follows the car’s journey to the iconic Pebble Beach event, highlighting LaVine Restorations, Inc., the team behind the restoration process that involved countless hours of dedication and expertise. Viewers will gain insight into the passion of the collectors, the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance experience, and the enduring legacy of this extraordinary vehicle.
Travis LaVine, of LaVine Restorations, Inc. says, “To have the chance to preserve and restore a car such as this is, by itself, an honor. To have the chance for the process to be documented by Gold Eagle as such, to tell Louise’s story, is incredible. And to have this car attend the incomparable Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance and win not one but two Special Awards is a dream. This was a hard-fought restoration and research endeavor, and we are beyond grateful to be a part of the story of this car and its owner.”
This film will feature exclusive interviews with the team at Lavine Restorations, Inc., Marcie Miller of the Marin History Museum, and Jack Boyd Smith Jr. the Packard’s owner and founder of The JBS Collection, in Elkhart, Indiana.
