Q: How long will STA-BIL Fuel Stabilizer keep fuel fresh?
A:
STA-BIL® Fuel Stabilizer will keep fuel fresh for up to 12 months, guaranteed. Depending on the quality, type and
source of the gasoline, as well as storage conditions, doubling the dosage rate of STA-BIL could prolong this storage
time to up to 2 years. However, any gasoline stored for more than 12 months will tend to lose volatility (ignitability),
which could lead to hard starting or no start conditions after this long storage period. NO additive, STA-BIL included,
will prevent volatility loss in fuel. To reduce fuel volatility loss during storage, we recommend filling your tank at least
95% fulll with fresh fuel and STA-BIL, and store in cool conditions away from direct sunlight if possible.
If you forget to stabilize your fuel prior to storage and do experience problems starting your equipment after storage,
we recommend trying our StartYourEngines! Fuel System Revitalizer product. |

Q: What is the shelf life of STA-BIL Fuel Stabilizer?
A: The shelf life of all STA-BIL products is 2 years after the bottle has been opened, provided it has been tightly capped and stored in a cool, dry place. If the product has not yet been opened, you should use the color of the fluid as an indicator. If the product is still bright red, it is fine to use. If the product has turned to av ery dark red (or brown) color, we recommend purchasing a new bottle. It will not harm anything if you use an old bottle of STA-BIL, it just may not be as effective.
Q: How much STA-BIL Fuel Stabilizer should I add to fuel?
A: One ounce (30mL) of STA-BIL Fuel Stabilizer for every 2 ½ gallons (9.5 L) of gasoline, gasoline/oil mixtures, or ethanol blends is the recommended dosage level.

Q: I have some gas in a tank that has been there more than 2 months. Will STA-BIL Fuel Stabilizer make this old gas like new?
A: No, STA-BIL Fuel Stabilizer will not restore or improve old gasoline. It will, however, stop it from degrading further. The best thing to do is treat the fuel with STA-BIL as soon as you buy it.
Q: I put STA-BIL Fuel Stabilizer in gas more than 12 months ago. If I put more STA-BIL in will it extend the time that the gas is still usable?
A: No, re-treating already stabilized fuel that has been stored for a significant period of time will not significantly prolong the life of, nor improve the fuel. If you believe you will be storing your equipment for longer than 12 months, it is recommended to double the dose of STA-BIL before you place in storage to ensure fresh fuel for up to 2 years.
Q: What if my gas has already gone stale (i.e. has gummed up)?
A: If the engine starts, you should fill your tank with fresh gas and use a fuel injector cleaner product (such as 104+ Octane Boost). If your engine does not start, due to the fuel being stale, we recommend you trying our Start Your Engines! Fuel System Revitalizer product.
Q: When should I use STA-BIL Fogging Oil?
A: Use STA-BIL Fogging Oil when an engine is not going to be run for 30 days or more. In as little as 30 days the protective oil layer in the engine can drain away and evaporate leaving bare metal surfaces susceptible to corrosion damaging the engine and reducing performance and engine life.
Q: How do I use STA-BIL Fogging Oil?
A:
- Start the engine and remove the air filter.
- Spray Fogging Oil into air intakes of running engine.
- Shut off engine after 10 seconds (often engine will choke itself off)*.

Q: Can I use STA-BIL Fuel Stabilizer in Diesel fuel?
A: Diesel fuel systems and gasoline systems are designed differently, and require different additives. In addition, regulations issued by the EPA over the last few years have resulted in diesel fuel reformulations (to Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel fuels), creating a need for more specialized diesel specific additives. In 2010, we created a special Diesel Formula STA-BIL, designed specifically to address problems related to the new Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel fuels and new diesel engine technologies, including thermal oxidation (heating of fuel), sludge and sediment formation, corrosion, and lubricity issues. It also helps remove water from the fuel. Using Regular STA-BIL in Diesel will not harm the diesel system in anyway, but will not be effective. In addition, the red dye in Regular STA-BIL can cause potential legal issues if used in On-Road Diesel Fuel, as Off-Road diesel fuel is purposely dyed red for tax purposes.
Q: I've heard that 1) The Old STA-BIL Fuel Stabilizer is no good with the new fuels. 2) Red STA-BIL Fuel stabilizer gums up carburetors/engines 3) Old STA-BIl no longer works. 4) A mechanic told me to stop using STA-BIL, and that I should use a different STA-BIL product now.
A: STA-BIL Fuel Stabilizer is designed to be used during storage or infrequent use in any gasoline engine, and will keep any gasoline (even Ethanol blends, up to E-85) fresh for up to 12 months. The STA-BIL® formula was improved over a year ago to include additional corrosion protection to protect against the damaging effects experienced when using Ethanol blended fuels. STA-BIL is compatible with ALL 2 and 4 cycle engines, and will absolutely NOT harm any components in an engine. The best way to protect your fuel system from Ethanol blended fuels related issues year-round (not just during storage), we recommend using new STA-BIl Ethanol Treatment. For Marine engines, such as a boat or jet-ski, we recommend Marine Formula STA-BIL Ethanol Treatment which has been specifically formulated for the extra severe conditions faced by these engines.
Q: Should I stop using STA-BIl Fuel Stabilizer and use the new STA-BIl Ethanol Treatment or Marine Formula STA-BIL instead?
A: There are specific needs for each product. As a general guideline, if you are STORING your gasoline vehicle or equipment for 30 days or more, we recommend you use Red STA-BIL Fuel Stabilizer. For EVERYDAY PROTECTION against Ethanol blended fuels in your Marine gasoline engine, we recommended using Marine Formula STA-BIL at every fill up during the season. For protection in all other non-marine gasoline vehicles, use new STA-BIL Ethanol Treatment at every fill up. For Diesel vehicles and equipment, use Diesel Formula STA-BIL Fuel Stabilizer.

Marine Formula STA-BIL
Q: Where can I purchase MARINE Formula STA-BIL®?
A: See the list of retailers that carry MARINE Formula STA-BIL on the STA-BIL “Where to Buy” page of this site, or call 800-367-3245.
Q: How much of the gasoline currently sold in the United States has some percentage of ethanol blended into it?
A: Currently almost
HALF of the gasoline sold in the United States has some percentage of ethanol blended into it, and that percentage is expected to grow significantly over the next five years as additional supplies of ethanol become available to blend into gasoline. Ethanol is blended together with gasoline at the local fuel terminals, and then the tankers deliver the fuel to the local retail locations. Ethanol is stored separately from gasoline prior to blending it together at the fuel terminals, since ethanol attracts water, and also requires special corrosion-resistant pipes and tanks to store it.
Q: Can I use MARINE Formula STA-BIL® Ethanol Treatment in my marine engine(s) and also in my other gasoline-powered outdoor equipment engines too?
A: MARINE Formula STA-BIL was designed specifically for use in Marine Engines., but it is safe to use in all 2 and 4-cycle gasoline equipment if desired.
Q: Is MARINE Formula STA-BIL® Ethanol Treatment safe to use?
A: MARINE Formula STA-BIL is completely safe to use in any engine powered by gasoline, gasoline/oil mixtures, and ethanol blends. It contains no additives that could harm a fuel tank or fuel lines, or an engine, fuel injectors or intake valves. Use of STA-BIL will not void any engine warranty. In addition, over treatment is safe and will not harm engine.
Q: How much MARINE Formula STA-BIL® should I add to fuel?
A: For
everyday in-season engine performance improvement and protection, use 1 ounce (30mL) in every 10 gallons (37.9 L).

Q: What is Phase Separation? Can your product PREVENT phase separation? What if fuel has already Phase Separated?
A: Phase separation occurs when the Ethanol in the fuel absorbs more water than it can naturally hold, and separates to the bottom of the tank along with the water. This results in two solutions (water/Ethanol mixture, and gasoline). A water/Ethanol solution is extremely damaging to your engine and fuel system, and no engine manufacturer recommends forcing water through the engine. Once phase separation has occurred, NO fuel additive nor anything else can be done or added to reverse it. The fuel tank should be drained.
Q: How does Marine Formula STA-BIL handle water?
A: Ethanol blended fuels can naturally hold up to 4 tbsp of water per gallon (about 0.5%) before phase separation occurs. Marine Formula STA-BIL® contains a chemical that will absorb an additional fraction of a percent of water above this amount (around 0.2%), by bonding with the water molecules, allowing this additional amount to pass safely through the engine and out through the tailpipe. Any amount above this will drop to the bottom and phase separate. Removing large amounts of water (more than 0.75%) through bonding will cause poor power/acceleration and sometimes cause the engine to quit. Additionally, it can cause catastrophic engine damage. No engine manufacturer recommends removal of these large amounts of water through bonding.
Q: If I have water in my tank, what should I do, should I drain it?
A: In a Marine engine, during usage of that equipment, any water that has not been safely carried through the fuel will most likely be taken out by the fuel/water separator). If you believe you have water in a fuel tank that has been sitting, we recommend draining the tank, and refilling with fresh fuel and Marine Formula STA-BIL.

Q: How does your product compare to StarTron?
A: Chemists with over 75 years combined fuel additive experience have developed STA-BIL®'s fuel additive formulations. Over 100 engine and equipment manufacturers recommend STA-BIL® product by name. No other fuel additive manufacturer can claim this level of trust from the people that design, build and service engines.
Q: Does your product protect the fuel lines? Does it protect rubber gaskets and plastic parts? What parts of the Fuel system does Marine Formula STA-BIl protect, and how?
A: NO additive, including Marine Formula STA-BIl can protect rubbers and plastics that are not designed for exposure to Ethanol or other chemicals found in gasoline. Marine Formula was designed to protect against corrosion on any metal components of the fuel system. This product is also an excellent fuel system cleaner, removing deposits that have accumulated on the carburetor, fuel injectors or intake valve.
Q: Does Marine Formula STA-BIL have the same stabilization characteristics as STA-BIL Fuel Stabilizer?
A: STA-BIL® Fuel Stabilizer is the recommended additive for extended storage. Marine Formula STA-BIL® can stabilize fuel if used in the proper concentration for up to 12 months, but is designed for EVERY DAY USE to protect against the damaging effects experienced when using Ethanol blended fuels.
Q: Do I need to use Marine Formula STA-BIl in dry/arid parts of the U.S. such as the Southwest?
A: Water vapor is present in ALL areas of the continental U.S.,even dry climates, so Marine Formula STA-BIL® should be used at every fill up in any Marine engine -- to protect against corrosion, as well as to help clean out your fuel system.
Q: When using Marine Formula STA-BIL, does it preserve the Octane rating of the fuel?
A: No. We recommend trying 104+ Octane Boost if you need to boost the octane of your fuel.
Q: Is there a "non-alcoholic" water remover in Marine Formula STA-BIL?
A: Yes, Marine Formula STA-BIL®, as do our other STA-BIL® products, contain a non-alcoholic water remover.
Q: How does Marine Formula STA-BIL remove water in my small engine equipment or car that does not have a fuel/water separator?
A: The additives in Marine Formula STA-BIL® will help remove a fraction of a percent of water above what Ethanol itself can naturally absorb safely through the fuel. Any additional water will drop to the bottom of the tank, and phase separate. We recommend draining the fuel if you believe there is water in the bottom of your equipment's fuel tank that does not have a fuel/water separator.

HEET
Q: How does HEET work?
A: HEET contains a special additive and methanol. When HEET is added to the gas tank, it sinks to the bottom and mixes with any water. Since both HEET and water are heavier than gasoline, they go to the bottom of the gas tank. HEET absorbs water and keeps it from freezing, and blocking the flow of gasoline through the gas line and fuel pump. When the vehicle is started, the additives, methanol, water, and gasoline are consumed during combustion inside the engine.
Q: How does Iso-HEET work?
A: Iso-HEET contains isopropanol and special additives including Fuel Injector Cleaner. When Iso-HEET is added to the fuel tank, this formula remains in the solution with the gasoline, and absorbs five times more than regular gas-line antifreeze. Any water in the gas tank mixes with the Iso-HEET, preventing the water from freezing in winter. Iso-HEET also removes water and condensation in warm, wet weather. Then the entire mixture of gasoline, Iso-HEET and water are burned during combustion inside the engine. Iso-HEET cleans fuel injectors and carburetors for fast starts and smooth-running engines year round.
Q: Can I use HEET in 2 cycle or diesel engines?
A: No, only use HEET (in the yellow bottle) in 4-cycle gasoline engines. However, Iso-HEET (in the red bottle) can be used in any type of internal combustion engine (2 cycle, 4 cycle and diesel).
Q: Will HEET or Iso-HEET harm my catalytic converter or fuel injectors?
A: No. HEET and Iso-HEET are completely safe on catalytic converters and fuel injectors. Iso-HEET will also safely clean the fuel injectors.
Q: Will HEET harm my carburetor or fuel system?
A: No, HEET will not harm your carburetor or fuel system when used as directed.
Q: Will HEET work when the gas line is already frozen?
A: Maybe, but not always, it depends where the gas line is frozen. You can try adding a bottle of HEET, waiting 15-20 minutes and then trying starting your engine. If that does not work, you should have your car moved to a warm garage to thaw out. To avoid this from happening, you should always use HEET as a preventative measure before temperatures are expected to fall below 32°F (0 °C).
Q: How many bottles of HEET or Iso-HEET should I use at one time?
A: One bottle of HEET or Iso-HEET treats up to 20 gallons (75.7 L) of gasoline. You should not use more than 2 bottles in a 20-gallon (75.7 L) gas tank, 3 bottles in a 30-gallon (113.6 L) gas tank. HEET and Iso-HEET are safe to use in every tankful, in all seasons, all year-round.
Q: Should I add HEET or Iso-HEET before or after I fill up?
A: Either way – adding HEET before or after you fill your tank with gasoline works equally well.
Q: What is the shelf life of HEET and Iso-HEET?
A: Unopened bottles of HEET and Iso-HEET have an indefinite shelf life provided the foil safety seal has not been broken. During storage, the bottles may swell and appear pressurized. This distortion is a result of vapor pressure formed by the formula stored at higher temperatures (which can happen in your garage or the trunk of your car). When this happens, the product is still fine to use. It does not diminish the product’s performance.

DieselPower!
Q: Can I use DieselPower!® products every time I fill up? Can using more than what is recommended on the label damage my vehicle?
A: All DieselPower! Fuel Additives are compatible with each other, and may be blended together. Added dosing of cetane improvers and anti-gel will provide additional benefits in higher concentrations. "Double-dosing" of fuel injector and complete fuel system cleaner (using more than directed on the label) is not damaging — although it may not provide additional benefit.
Q: What is the difference between the Complete Fuel System Treatment, and the Fuel Injector Cleaner?
A: The Complete Fuel System Treatment contains cetane improver, anti-gel, lubricity and detergent additive. The Complete Fuel System Treatment is stronger and faster acting product. This product cleans the complete fuel system, ports & passages, while the Fuel Injector cleaner is specially formulated to clean only the diesel fuel injectors.
Q: Why do I need to use an Anti-Gel product, and when should I use it?
A: Diesel Fuel contains hydrocarbon waxes that can crystallize and form wax crystals, which can block diesel fuel lines and fuel filters. Anti-gel products stop or prevent this from happening. To be effective, anti-gels must be added to fuel before the fuel gels at a temperature of > -15ºF. When added correctly, DieselPower!® Anti-Gel will allow diesel fuel to continue to flow even at -25° F (-31.7°C) or lower.
Q: I did not use an Diesel Anti-Gel product, and now my vehicle will not start. Can I still add the DieselPower!® Anti-Gel & Fuel Treatment?
A: You can still add this product, although it will not dissolve the wax that has already gelled in your fuel. You must add the Anti-Gel product before gelling for it to be effective above 15ºF. If you have reason to believe your diesel fuel has gelled, move your vehicle to a warm garage, and wait for the wax to dissolve.
Q: When do I use the DieselPower!® Performance Improver & Cetane Booster? Can this be used year round?
A: This product should be used any time that more noise is noticed on acceleration, or you notice white smoke when your vehicle is started. You can also use this product to obtain maximum power while towing.
Q: I accidentally added a Gasoline fuel additive to my diesel vehicle, rather than one specific for Diesel Fuel. Will this cause any harm to my engine?
A: Most gasoline fuel additives are not powerful enough to be beneficial when used in a diesel engine. However, using one will not harm your diesel engine.
Q: Can I use these products in my “big rig” diesel and my car or truck?
A: Yes, DieselPower! is safe and effective for use in all diesel engines. Just mix it per label instructions. DieselPower! Maximum Heavy Duty is especially good for hard working “big rig” engines.
Q: What is the shelf life of the DieselPower!® products?
A: DieselPower!® products have an indefinite shelf life, provided the cap has not been removed.
Q: Why does the DieselPower!® product I saw in the store or purchased have a diesel additive compliance sticker on the side of the bottle?
A: On June 1, 2006, the Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel Fuel (ULSD) regulation went into effect. This regulation, mandated by the EPA, was created to reduce emissions in 2007 or newer model diesel vehicles by lowering the sulfur content of diesel fuel to less than 15 parts per million. This regulation requires that ALL diesel fuel additive products must be labeled or stickered stating whether the product complies with the new ULSD regulations (contains less than 15 ppm sulfur), or does not comply (contains more than 15 ppm sulfur). Because the stickered DieselPower! products contained more than 15 ppm sulfur, they are required to have the does not comply sticker. However they are totally safe to use in ALL 2006 and older model diesel engines.

Q: Does DieselPower!® lubricate my fuel system?
A: Yes, all DieselPower! fuel additives contain lubricity additive specially designed to protect all fuel system components from wear.
DIESEL Formula STA-BIL®
Q: Why should I use DIESEL Formula STA-BIL® Fuel Stabilizer?
A: In 2006, the EPA mandated the reformulation of diesel fuels, reducing sulfur content to less than 15 ppm. These newly reformulated diesel fuels, called Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel and Bio-Diesel, are less stable than diesel fuels of the past. The reduction in sulfur also means less lubrication to protect the diesel engine from wear, leading to more breakdowns and major engine problems. Diesel Formula STA-BIL is specially formulated to help prevent sludge and sediment formation and the darkening of diesel fuel. Diesel STA-BIL contains high levels of detergents and lubricity agents, and when used regularly, haleps remove these sediments as well as any engine deposits that may have already formed, in addition to lubricating critical fuel system components to kepp your diesel engine running like new.
Q: Does DIESEL Formula STA-BIL® also help remove water? How? Why is this important?
A:
Although water attraction can occur within the fuel tank at any time, when diesel fuel is stored for long periods, it is more likely to draw in moisture from the air. Which means the fuel is more prone to fungus, algae and bacterial growth. Algae can grow rapidly within the fuel and fuel system if there is any water within the fuel or tank. This growth can lead to a gummy mess within your fuel tank -- clogging the entire system, and if not properly cleaned and maintained, causing your diesel engine to run poorly, if at all.
Diesel Formula STA-BIL® helps remove water from the diesel fuel, eliminating the environment in which fungi and algae require to grow in. Diesel STA-BIL® demulsifies the water (breaks the water into small droplets) dropping it to the bottom of the fuel tank, where the fuel/water separators remove the water from the fuel, allowing the fuel to move safely through the fuel system. By removing the water before the fuel flows through the fuel system, also helps protect against corrosion.
Q: In what types of fuel can DIESEL Formula STA-BIL® Fuel Stabilizer be used in?
A: DIESEL Formula STA-BIL® is safe to use in ALL Diesel Fuels, including Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel and Bio-Diesel blends. It is also safe to use in ANY Diesel Engine, including Marine and Agricultural equipment.
Q: Can you use DIESEL Formula STA-BIL® in Home Heating Oil?
A: While this product was not specifically developed for this purpose, it is safe to use Diesel Formula STA-BIL® in Home Heating Oils. It will work well at keeping the burners clean, removing any water in the fuel and will also help stabilize the fuel, if stored for periods of time.
Q: I thought Regular (Red) STA-BIL® worked in Diesel Fuel, how is Diesel Formula STA-BIL® better?
Q: How much DIESEL Formula STA-BIL® should I add to fuel?
A: We recommend using DIESEL Formula STA-BIL® at EVERY FILL up to protect your fuel system year-round from sludge and sediment formation, water, corrosion, and breakdown of the fuel. For use in every tank, use 1 ounce in every 10 gallons of fuel. If using product only during storage, use 1 ounce in every 5 gallons of fuel.

Q: Why do the 104+ Octane Boost products say “For Off Road Use Only” on the label?
A: These formulas are not registered with the EPA for on-road use, so we are required to label both the 104+ Octane Boost and 104+ MAXIMUM Octane Boost products for “Off Road Use Only”. However, both 104+ products are safe to use in ALL vehicles, and will not harm catalytic converters or oxygen sensors.

NO LEAK Power Steering Treatment
Q: What Causes Power Steering Leaks?
A: Power Steering Leaks are usually caused by power steering unit seals that have shrunken, causing fluid to leak from the system.
Q: How does NO-LEAK Power Steering Treatment work?
A: As the rubber seals age and wear under heat and pressure, they shrink, harden and dry up, which can result in fluid leaks. NO-LEAK safely swells, softens, and conditions the rubber seals, which stops the leak.
Q: Is NO LEAK Power Steering Treatment safe to use?
A: Yes, unlike some other sealers, NO LEAK is perfectly safe to use with all power steering fluids, and will not damage your vehicle.
Q: My vehicle uses Transmission Fluid in the Power Steering Unit; can I still use NO-LEAK Power Steering Treatment?
A: Yes, you can still use the Power Steering Treatment in your Power Steering unit.
Q: When is the best time to use NO-LEAK?
A: It’s best to use NO-LEAK when you first notice a small leak. However, even if you have noticed the leak for quite a while, NO-LEAK should produce the desired benefit.
Q: How long will NO-LEAK seal the leak?
A: This depends upon the severity of the seal deterioration and age of vehicle. The leak may be stopped for months, or even years. However, if leaks do reappear over time, simply use another bottle of NO-LEAK Power Steering Treatment.
Q: Should I use the whole bottle of NO-LEAK?
A: Yes, for best results, use the whole bottle, but you can add about half the bottle and if the leak continues add the rest of the bottle.
Q: I have a small leak and can’t get a whole bottle in the reservoir, but want to add the whole bottle. What do I do?
A: Don’t overfill the reservoir because too much fluid will cause pressure that may actually make the leak worse. Simply remove enough fluid with a siphon or turkey baster to make room for the contents of a bottle of NO-LEAK.
Q: Does NO-LEAK always stop the leak?
A: Usually, but not always. If the leak is too severe you should have it repaired by a qualified service technician.
Q: What is the shelf life for NO-LEAK?
A: NO-LEAK products have an indefinite shelf life, provided the cap has not been removed.
Q: Can I use other Gold Eagle Products while using NO-LEAK?
A: NO-LEAK is compatible, and can be used simultaneously with all other Gold Eagle Products.
Q: Why does the label say: Leak should stop within 200 miles (300 km) of driving?
A: Because driving allows NO-LEAK to thoroughly circulate through the system and gives the product time to work on the leaking seals or other components to safely seal the leak.
