Gold Eagle's History
Nearly eight great decades. That’s how long Gold Eagle has
been perfecting fuel stabilizers and other automotive
additives. Today, our products – including STA-BIL®, Start Your
Engines!®, and many others – are used by millions of people
around the world. The company occupies 400,000 square
feet of manufacturing and distribution space and was named
one of just 50 Inc. Magazine Winning Workplaces in 2011.
How did we do it? Here’s a snapshot, era by era.

Gold Eagle’s founder, Armin Hirsch, opens a
small shop in Chicago to help prevent and
cure engine problems. Clientele grows at a
rapid pace.

Armin's sons, Bob and Rich, come on board.
Our expanding company needs more space.
Gold Eagle moves, first to a three-building
facility and later to a 100,000-square-foot factory.
At a time when automobile efficiency reigns,
Gold Eagle is a pioneer in the automotive
aftermarket industry.
We open a second plant and begin molding
our own HDPE (high density polyethylene) bottles.
Consumers now have direct access to power
steering fluid, thanks to Gold Eagle.
We're the first company to package brake
fluid in plastic funnel bottles.
We need more space. Again. This time, it's a
200,000-square-foot facility.
Our masterminds invent a tire inflator with a
hose dispenser. The product is immediately
in high demand.
Gold Eagle acquires STA-BIL®, the #1 fuel
stabilizer on the market.
Gold Eagle is now exporting directly to
international markets.
We bring lawn mower racing to America. Its
popularity spreads quickly, so we create the
U.S. Lawn Mower Racing Association.
We expand the STA-BIL® line to include
much-needed marine formula and ethanol
treatment products.
Ernst & Young designates Bob and Rich
Hirsch, now Chairman and Vice President of
the company, respectively, Illinois

the healthiest companies in America.
